After-School Writing Lab (ASWL) takes place on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons (4pm - 6pm) at the Zapata Elementary School for 2nd through 8th grade students.In this special seven-week spring session of the After School Writing Lab, students will explore interdisciplinary forms of poetry, storytelling, collage, and audio recording. The program will culminate with a gallery exhibition, listening party, and live reading at 826CHI's Spring Showcase on May 30th.

These loans allow families to establish a credit history or improve their credit score while avoiding taking out high-interest payday loans.

Chicago Housing Authority's (CHA) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program assists in housing families with children, the elderly, and people with disabilities across Chicago. Using federal funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the voucher program helps participant families pay for housing in the private market, such as apartments, duplexes, condominiums, townhouses, and single-family homes. Participant families contribute 30-40% of their income toward rent and utilities, and CHA pays the remainder directly to the property owner.Since more families need rental assistance than funds available, CHA uses a waiting list to administer the program. Currently, the HCV waitlist is closed. Notice will be posted through a variety of media outlets when it reopens.

Shelter's Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a two-year, voluntary program for young people ages 17-21 who are assigned male at birth. It helps residents achieve self-sufficiency and independence.Young people join TLP because they want to lead the everyday, healthy, productive life they were denied through no fault of their own. They often come to TLP lacking the basic life skills that most take for granted, like budgeting finances, applying for a job, grocery shopping, or even doing the laundry. TLP teaches these and other vital, foundational lessons.

Lemont Township "Rules of the Road" is a review test for seniors required to take the written or driving test in order to renew their driver's licenses. This free class is offered three times a year.

Lurie Children's provides comprehensive rehabilitative services for children who present with atypical development or acquired impairment due to disease or injury. They specialize in the assessment and treatment of children's motor skills, communication skills, hearing, feeding, and swallowing. Our dedicated clinicians work to help children return to their previous functional status, as well as gain new skills and abilities that they aren't able to learn on their own.

Chicago Park District offers a 6-week long summer day camp where youth can engage in sports, arts, fitness, and outdoor activities. Ideas of civic engagement, environmental awareness, inclusion, collaboration & team building, brain play, reflection & journaling, and friendship & kindness are woven into the camp experience. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Online registration begins April 15 & 16. Camp runs June 24 - August 2.

Community Supportive Living Systems Emerald House provides low-cost permanent housing with support services for those with disabilities. Clients who have difficulties with activities of daily living such as laundry, shopping, and cleaning are assigned personal assistants to help them complete these tasks. The fee is based on the resident's income.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Cook County North Suburban provides a non-traditional equine therapy for individuals and families dealing with mental health concerns. Licensed social workers and a psychologist lead mental health groups at Equestrian Connections through a partnership with NAMI CCNS.

KinderCare provides various social and educational programs for children aged 6 weeks through 12 years old across its many locations.

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago offers a wide variety of free fitness classes for members. Non-members can register for many of these classes (some require registration and fees). Some classes may require a minimum or maximum number of participants.

Volunteers of America Illinois reaches out to veterans wherever they are in their journey towards healing and stability and offer a full continuum of supportive services and interventions that are individually tailored to meet the unique needs of each veteran.

The Beliefs & Skills program offers a comprehensive curriculum developed in consultation with victim services agency partners. Following a strengths-based, trauma-informed individualized assessment that includes identifying the need for collateral services, participants complete an orientation and are then placed in an intervention group, which meets for a minimum of 24 consecutive weeks.
