Grand Prairie Services (GPS) Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (PSR) of GPS helps reintroduce individuals into the community. Many individuals who participate in the PSR skill building program have histories of multiple psychiatric hospitalizations. Individuals who take part in PSR programs develop skills to:Independent living skills, including coping with life stressors, self-management of behavioral symptoms, self-management of medication, interpersonal relations and social-occupational skills.Skills to maintain community adjustments without structured intervention.Skills to foster generalization of new skills learning to other community settingsFind and maintain meaningful employment or explore career employment issuesIndividuals are offered diverse groups that focus on the skills needed to maintain community living. Programs and activities are updated regularly to respond to the needs of program participants. Individuals participate in many community activities that help with community integration.

These homes are a stepping stone for individuals with a mental health diagnosis who have a goal of living independently.Group homes are designed to give residents the opportunity to learn and practice independent living skills while living in a supportive environment. The homes are staffed 24/7. Residents have their own bedroom but share a bathroom and eat meals together. They participate in structured weekly therapeutic groups, skill-building and social activities, and also perform household chores. Residents are encouraged to work and attend school or day programs.
