Cook County Clerk's - Veterans Assistance Commission coordinates proper burials for indigent veterans.

For members of the West Humboldt community, R City provides special expense support for individuals impacted by violence or crime. This includes funeral expense support, school expense support, mentoring/counseling, food/housing, and employment assistance.

Provides financial assistance to honorably discharged veterans and their families who have lost a loved one pay for the funeral and/or the cremation. Individual who passed, must be have been a honorably discharged veteran or widow.

Provides emergency financial assistance to help township residents alleviate life-threatening circumstances. Provides assistance for circumstances such as:

• Eviction
• Utility disconnection
• Prescription expenses
• Employment assistance
• Transportation
• Funeral and burial
• ID's

**Serves residents of Waukegan Township and Shields Township**

Pays the funeral and burial expenses of a person who at the time of death was receiving any of the following kinds of assistance:

• Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Cash
• Aid to the Aged, Blind, or Disabled (AABD) Cash
• All Kids Assist
• Parent/All Kids Assist
• All Kids Moms & Babies
• Family Assist
• AABD Medical
• General Assistance Foster Care/Adoption Care

or who would have qualified for:

• All Kids Assist
• Parent/All Kids Assist
• All Kids Moms & Babies
• Family Assist
• AABD Medical

Maximum amount paid by DHS: -$1,370 for a funeral -$686 for a cremation/burial
