Ten calls are accepted Monday mornings, starting at 9 AM for help up to $35. This Helping Appointment assistance is provided to an individual no more than once every 90 days. Only referral agencies can request help with rent or utilities for individuals needing more than $35.

Applications are accepted as long as weekly funding is available.

HOME FREE PROGRAM: In partnership with Greyhound Lines, Inc., NRS helps reunite qualified runaway youth ages 12-21 with their families, or alternate living arrangement through a free bus ticket home. Youth must call 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) to start the process.

A free 14-module, interactive prevention curriculum that is available in English and Spanish. This evidence-based tool builds life skills; increases knowledge about available resources; educates about alternatives to running away; and empowers youth to access and seek help from trusted community members.

The below steps must be followed to access the Unmet Needs program:

1. Connect with Prairieland United Way. United Way will direct those in need to available resources from food, to housing, and utilities.

2. Use the Salvation Army of Jacksonville. When there are no more resources available through United Way partner organizations, the Salvation Army is equipped to meet a variety of emergency needs.

3. Once the Salvation Army has exhausted all of their program options, they will reach out to the Unmet Needs program on behalf of the person in need. This program can help with rent or utility assistance, home repairs, medical (outstanding bills, ambulance services, eyeglasses, even bus passes to get to medical appointments), and transportation/car repair.
