Application process
Patient should bring one pouching system to the clinic for evaluation. The pouch that the patient wears to the clinic will be removed to assess the stoma and peristomal skin and a new pouching system will be placed.

UChicago Medicine provides education to patients with a colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy. Additional services include assessment and treatment of problems such as pouch leakage, peristomal skin injury, inability to manage stoma, fitting of pouching system, pre-op visit to educate and mark stoma site, problem solving in getting supplies, getting the best pouching system to provide a consistent seal and no leakage. The services are provided by advanced practice certified ostomy nurses Janice Colwell and Michele Kaplon-Jones.
